THE WATCH OF THE OPEN SEAS
The Rolex Yacht-Master and Yacht-Master II models embody the spirit of the sailor. Inspired by the rich heritage that Rolex has bound to the world of sailing since the 1950s, the Yacht-Master combines function and style, while the Yacht-Master II combines the best in Rolex technology to create a regatta chronograph is built for sailing competitions.
18 CT GOLD
By exploiting its own exclusive foundry, Rolex has the unrivaled ability to produce 18 kt gold alloys of the highest quality. Depending on the amount of silver, copper, platinum or palladium added, different types of 18 carat gold are obtained: yellow, pink or white. They are made with only the purest metals and meticulously inspected in an in-house laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, before the gold is formed and formed with the same meticulous attention to quality. Rolex’s dedication to excellence starts at the source.
WHITE DIAL PLATE
The Yacht-Master II is equipped with a new dial and new hands that are typical of Rolex Professional models, improving legibility and improving aesthetic appeal. The dial now has a triangular hour mark at 12 o’clock and a rectangular hour mark at 6 o’clock for a more intuitive reading of the watch. A luminous disc in the hour hand clearly distinguishes it from the minute hand. The countdown of the Yacht-Master II can be programmed for a duration of 1 to 10 minutes. The programming is remembered by the mechanism, so that the previous setting is restored during a reset. After launch, the countdown can immediately be synchronized to adjust the official countdown of the race.
THE OYSTER BRACELET
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology, designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock folding clasp, which prevents accidental opening, and the Easylink comfort extension coupling, also exclusively for Rolex. This ingenious system enables the wearer to increase the length of the bracelet by about 5 mm, providing extra comfort in all circumstances.
The Yacht-Master II is equipped with caliber 4161, a self-retracting mechanical chronograph that is fully developed and produced by Rolex. His architecture, production quality and innovative functions make him particularly precise and reliable. This abundance of Rolex technology, the result of more than 35,000 hours of development, includes a patented function and includes 360 components. Some of them are made by UV-LiGA, a micromanufacturing technology that is fully managed internally by Rolex. This technology enables the production of components whose small proportions or complex geometry exclude production by traditional machining methods.
RING COMMAND BROOM
Rolex achieved perfection when it turned his attention to redefining the purpose and functionality of the ring. A bezel usually works independently of the internal mechanism; However, the Ring Command ring in the Yacht-Master II regatta chronograph works in combination with this. As a mechanical part that is linked to the movement, the ring literally acts as the key to the programmable countdown, so that it can be set and synchronized with the set start times of the race. Complex in design, but easy to use, it is functionally beautiful.
